Discovery Day with HD3 - February 6, 2014

Wednesday, January 29, 2014, Los Alamos, NM– The New Mexico Consortium (NMC), the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC) and the High Desert Discovery District (HD3) announced today that 14 New Mexico innovators were chosen to present their ideas and/or technologies to a panel of business and subject matter experts at the Los Alamos Discovery Day, February 6, 2014. Of the 14 companies/innovators chosen to present, two are recent students from one of the NMC’s partner universities, UNM-LA.  The creators of ClipCam and GFP Biotech completed instructor Nicholas Seet’s "Financing the Entrepreneurial Enterprise” course last fall.

“I’m delighted that two of my students’ projects were chosen to be included in the Los Alamos Discovery Day event,” Seet said.  “We want to do all that we can to help serve the local start-up community.”

HD3 received 30 applications from various individuals and companies, each one vying for a limited number of spots in the Discovery Day lineup.  Michelle Miller, Founder and CEO of HD3, said, “We were fortunate to have received so many applications for the Los Alamos Discovery Day event.  Many (applications) were very strong, others premature, others not quite “there” in terms of the maturity of the technology development at this time, market need, investment potential or other factors.”

Discovery Day is a special opportunity for regional innovators to vet and discuss their ideas to a highly experienced group of entrepreneurs, innovators, technology management experts, and investors. Innovators will have the opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of over 20 experienced investors.
